I teach at Harvard Divinity School as a lecturer on American religious history. I have a Ph.D. in religion with a secondary field in anthropology from Harvard University. In my research, I use historical and ethnographic methods to study twenty-first century Christianity. My research and teaching interests include women’s religious history, religion and politics, and religious media. I have published articles in academic journals including Religion and American Culture and Theology & Sexuality. I have also written for public-facing sites The Anxious Bench and the Syndicate. I am currently working on two books. Faithful Dissent: Post-Evangelical Feminist Communities on Digital Media, under advance contract with Oxford University Press, is a study of a network of women authors and their readers who created digital communities through blogs, social media, podcasts and other platforms. On the Days When I Believe: The Life and Spiritual Legacy of Rachel Held Evans is a religious biography of the well-known writer Rachel Held Evans, forthcoming from Eerdmans Publishing.
